Hi, I'm new here and think about a change to TB.

What I already found out:

* There is a possibility to import a sqlite database
* There is a general import function

But: How to find out, which format the source should have to make a proper import? I exported 2 test students and  tried to take the same format for an import, but it doesn't work. Is there any documentation?

best regards

Well, your question was not really how to import students, was it? You say you worked that out. So all you have to do is take a look at the persons table and format the export to match. My point is, even if you'd do that, you would not have all needed settings (eliible assignments, classes, etc).

As for import from other software, read the Help F1.

If you want to improve the architecture I am pretty sure you are more than welcome to join the team. Be assured any help is greatly appreciated.

For accessing the database my personal preference is http://sqlitebrowser.org/

For editing templates I now use https://code.visualstudio.com/

@Markus, I hope the TB screenshot in Bitbucket does not have actual data. If it does, you may want to blur those.

It looks like we have 'visitors' here, and the link is easy to click.

@Marc, of course this is fake data ;-) But thanx for beeing attentive :)

Well, the F1 info is a bit rarely about import format. What about those not using KHS, TMS, Ta1ks or WiNTM? would be interesting for them how to import xls / csv into TB.

Hi everybody, I am also interested by a xls or csv template to import a list of students. After, importing that database, we could enter in Theocbase to tick all the attributions possible, but at least having this possibility could be very helpfull.

I am currently on MacOs and I moved to a new Congregation. I have some xls list of the publishers (readers, chairmen, etc.). I can learn how to edit SQL base but this kind of easy way to import could be very welcome to facilitate on.

Do you have any advice to help me ?

Thanks to the developers for this super helpful tool !!!

Of course this was exactly my question.

So all you have to do is take a look at the persons table and format the export to match.

Yes, this has been the quickest way for me. But it could be quicker for others if there would be a Howto Page. Isn't there a wiki where I could write this? Now I think this would also be useful for the list of talks and songs.

As for import from other software, read the Help F1.

it is probably more work to first work that out

Wow, this is .... really surprising. I now wonder if the scheme architecture is the best. And I wonder if I am the first asking for student import. really??

Well I have to examine this thing. I applaud the open source licence. Currently the strongest argument to go to TheocBase. I think imports like this are essential!

Thanks for the fast reply marc. Best regards and greetings from germany

You'd need to fill the 'persons' table in theocbase.sqlite.

If you can make that work at all, you'd still have to let each student go 'through your hands' to set assignments etc. Adding them one by one, is probably less work than finding a smart way of filling that table. (For one thing you'd have to figure out exactly how the 'usefor' field is put together. Some suggestions have been mentioned here before: but again, it is probably more work to first work that out)
